Mail on BART
BART's Cachet Covers
Two ceremonial envelopes in my collection - one from Dedication Day (10/11/72) and the other from the opening of the Transbay Tube (this one is dated on Saturday, 9/14/74).
The 1972 cachet included an All About BART pamphlet - alongside a description, which is also included. It seems they didn't predict the 1974 Tube cachet. I've also heard that some years ago, the USPS carried mail on a handcart between West Oakland and Fremont, to bypass traffic.
I seem to recall hearing there might be a third or possibly fourth cachet on another BART event.

Express Mail Rides BART
The cachet covers were not the only mail carried on BART. Here is a scan of an article from the BART Times November 1990 issue.
Express mail is called Priority Mail Express now.
