BART Model Railroad

Picture
My BART Model Railroad is a private N-scale replication of the BART system and of the San Francisco Bay Area's public transit. It spans from San Jose to Fremont, Oakland, and San Francisco. The BART line is a loop, with Fremont and Embarcadero stations joined by the Transbay Tube, with a staging space off to the side (Hayward yard).

I have chosen this route and stations due to my connections with these areas. It is located in Fremont, CA, not too far away from the real Fremont BART station.

I will post progress photos of my layout as time permits.

Designed and built by ATP Transit, 2019 - Present

The Fleet

A couple dozen cars in N scale, all handcrafted and made in-house. Unlike the "leading manufacturer" these cars were designed using details straight off of the cars themselves, including car-by-car quirks, scars, and repairs.

Fremont Station

Picture
Here is a progress shot of the Fremont station, located in no other than the real Fremont, CA. It has always been my "home station," and I have used it for the past 20 or so years.

It was compressed and shifted due to space considerations.

Hayward Yard

Coming Soon

Trains need to be stored and repaired, and that is the job of the N scale Hayward Yard and Shop.

Upper A-Line Aerial

Coming soon.

Based on the miles of aerial from Bay Fair to north of Fruitvale, this stretch of the layout has BART trains howling above East Oakland, past Seminary Yard (Division 4) of AC Transit and more.

Transbay Tube

Using authentic drawings, we designed the N-scale Transbay Tube to match the distinct profile of the real Transbay Tube.

Embarcadero Station

Coming Soon

The airy station on the foot of Market St, San Francisco. The City. The final station to open in the original system is notable in many ways - from the view to the lighting, to memorials, and its rather narrow size downstairs. Embarcadero is the busy San Francisco station of this layout.
