1164 (Western Railway Museum)

Built in 1973, rebuilt in 2002.

Previously the Hayward Test Track car before rebuilding - highly instrumented test car used to make the fleet more reliable.

In service through the first months of 2024, among the last to carry passengers in full revenue service (unscheduled) through late Feb 2024.

Preserved at the Western Railway Museum. Delivered August 9, 2024.

1195 (Scrapped)

Old 1195 was the other A2 car from the 100s. It was a prototype car for mid life rebuilding, resulting in it being only one of two A2 cars numbered in the 100s.

Built in 1973, rebuilt in 2000.

Scrapped 12/23.

1203 (Found new use)

Received from Rohr on 3/19/1973. Rebuilt in 2001.

In service on 4/20/2024 - Final run of the Legacy Fleet.

1204 - The "Partial Derail-er" (Scrapped)

Received from Rohr on 3/19/1973. Rebuilt in 2001. Derailed outside of Concord on 6/21/22 due to rail heat kink during heatwave (incident named a "partial derailment," stored at Concord yard and removed from revenue service.)

1205 - The Logoless ​(Scrapped)

Received from Rohr on 3/21/1973. Rebuilt in 2001.

The cab logo faded off at least 5 years ago, and has not been replaced.

In collision with crashed pickup, 5/15/23. Train operator injured and cab damaged. Stored and later scrapped in summer 2023.

1206 ​(Scrapped)

Received from Rohr on 3/21/1973. Rebuilt in 2001.

1208 - Dearly Departed ​(Scrapped)

Received from Rohr on 3/26/1973. Rebuilt in 2000.

Used for Warm Springs and Berryessa pre-revenue testing. After storage in Hayward Yard, 1208 was officially decomissioned on 8/18/2020. It was the first A2 car to be scrapped.

1210 - Mr. Mustache Car ​(Scrapped)

Received from Rohr on 3/26/1973. Rebuilt in 2001.

1210, the old Mustache car. It's had the little cab damage since at least 2012.

Only A2 car to get the single seating mod, which was used on B2 cars.

Displayed at site of future Berryessa Station in 2012.

Selected for use by the Oakland A's, who later declined the car. Oakland Ballers took on the project (to convert into a food stand at their baseball field) and the car was delivered to them in April 2025.

1263 - Back from the Dead(line) -  just briefly.  (Scrapped)

Old 1263 was built in 1975 by Rohr in Chula Vista, CA, as A car 263. It was rebuilt in 2002 as car 1263. In 2016, it was used for testing at Warm Springs. By 2019, it was stored at Hayward Yard alongside cars 1770, 327, 2556, 1557, and 1208. All but 327 and 1263 were scrapped (1208 was featured in BART News: https://www.bart.gov/news/articles/2020/news20200903-0). Last I have seen, 1263 ran on the Yellow line (Concord home shop), and 327 is often spotted on the Green Line (Hayward home shop).

2023 edit: After a brief entrance into service, the 1263 was stored at Hayward Yard due to program stop issues. It was used as a training car for Train Operators.
