eBART - Eastern Contra Costa County BART Extention

The eBART project was BART's "low budget" (1/2 the capital cost of normal BART) extention to Antioch, requiring riders to transfer from traditional BART to eBART via a transfer platform located past Pittsburg/Bay Point station (and usually there is a meet between the trains). The fleet are off-the-shelf Stadler Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs).

Having paid for the system their entire lives, the taxpayers of eastern Contra Costa County (well, some part of it), got this oddball extention while Santa Clara County, which hasn't paid for BART (but rather "bought in" at a bargain) recieved real BART to their county. Designed as station-agent-less extention, a station agent booth was installed shortly thereafter at Antioch.

BART pushed for everyone to call this thing "BART to Antioch" when in reality, just about everyone refers it to eBART (and it seems a chunk of BART riders don't even know it exists).

eBART opened May 26, 2018. The Antioch TVMs were the first extention stations to not sell paper tickets.

Pittsburg Transfer Platform

Real BART to eBART, transfer platform, with one track for BART and one for eBART.

Pittsburg tranfer station has no exit (outside emergency exits), since passengers are meant to leave the system at Antioch, Pittsburg Center, Pittsburg/Bay Point, and the rest of the system.

Pittsburg Center

This station is between Antioch and Pittsburg transfer. Island platform with a single entrance, and no station agent (and a magnet for fare evasion).

Antioch

End of the line [or in eBART-destination-sign-ese: Final destination] for eBART. Island platform with one entrance, to the north.

Past the station is the shop and yard.
