General Description (1972): This station is designed in connection with the BART Administration Building. Large landscaped plazas serve the facilities and contain stairs and escalators to the concourse below. Adjacent to the ticketing concourse is a plaza open to the sky above. The lower level plaza contains a large fountain and is enclosed by a wall decorated in low relief by artist William Mitchell.
The station proper is finished in glass mosaic tile and bush hammered concrete for the walls. The concourse floor and loading platform below are paved in terrazzo made of a mixture of red and gray marble chips (Station Fact Sheet, 1972)

Entrances are at various locations along Oak Street between Eighth and Ninth streets and in a plaza above the station. Fare collection equipment is on the first level beneath the street. Trains in both directions are located in the second, or bottom level. The station has a 240-car parking lot, and a 25 cent fee will be charged for parking. The station has four escalators ("12 Stations to Enter Service," 1972).
