Green Line
(Berryessa - San Francisco/Daly City Line)
The Green Line began service with the opening of the Transbay Tube in September 1974, with service from Fremont to Daly City via San Francisco. In 2017 it was extended to Warm Springs, and in 2020 it was extended to Berryessa. The typical announcement for the Daly City direction, before the tube, is "San Francisco/Daly City train."

Train Lengths
During the 1970s and 1980s, train length was very variable, depending on passenger traffic. Trains could be as short as 3 cars offpeak, while the longest trains were 10 cars during peak commute periods.
Before Covid (c.2018-3/2020):
Peak: 9 and 10 car trains.
Offpeak: 4 and 5 car trains.
Due to yard assignments, C2 cars were very common on the Green line. With the retirement of the C2 cars, A2 cars are a frequent sight on the Green Line.
During Covid: 10 car trains, all day during weekdays. Saturday trains were initially 5 cars long even though winter 2020. Saturday service was suspended from 3/22/2021-8/2/2021. Effective 8/2/21, weekend trains are 9 to 10 cars long.
