Construction/Production - How Fleet of the Future Cars are Made

Sahagún, Mexico
Car shell (carbody) assembly, alongside installation of intercar barriers, intercar doors, doors, parts of the interior and electrical harnesses takes place in Mexico. From there, cars are trucked to Plattsburgh, NY or Pittsburg, CA for final assembly (through Texas).

Plattsburgh, NY or Pittsburg, CA
Final assembly of the car, including installation of undercar equipment (trucks, HVAC system, traction control, etc) occurs in one of two plants. From there, the car is trucked over to BART.

BART on the Road Again
Special trailers carry BART cars across the country (or from Pittsburg) to the Hayward Test Track.

BART Acceptance Testing
At the Hayward Test Track, located next to Hayward Yard, cars are tested in preparation for revenue service.

Additionally, the cars are tested on the mainline before entering revenue service.

Revenue Service
Following testing, they enter revenue service carrying thousands of passengers week to week.
